Jill Franko was elected to fill Position 1 on the school board. Ms. Franko serves on the Ashland Board of Education Budget Committee and its Bond Oversight Committee. She is the mother of two children, a kinder and a third-grader. She stated, “Ashland School District is not devoid of challenges and I believe in participating in the solutions. Many of our parents, children, teachers, and staff have lost homes in the fires. Others have been strapped with financial insecurities brought on by the pandemic. There are concerns about the impact COVID-19 has had on our budget, enrollment, and academic achievement as a district. We can overcome these challenges, and ensure all our children are cared for, provided for, and supported.”

Dan Ruby has lived in Ashland since 2018 with his family, including a recent graduate of AHS.  He holds a masters’ in secondary science education, with expertise in bridging formal and informal K-12 STEM curriculum. He relocated from the University of Nevada, Reno to become CEO of Scienceworks Museum. Dan currently works as a Senior Director for a community health organization, with a focus on partnerships that address human needs across the breadth of social drivers of health. He enjoys music and the outdoors.

Eva Skuratowicz moved to Ashland in 2004 and has two children who attend Ashland schools. She has enjoyed volunteering in their classrooms and assisting with a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Eva has a doctorate in sociology and is the director of the Southern Oregon University Research Center. In her research, she works with local non-profit and governmental organizations and has gained a great deal of knowledge of the Rogue Valley.  When she actually has spare time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, hiking and traveling.

Rebecca Dyson was elected to fill Position 4. Her four children have been enrolled in Ashland School District since moving here in 2013. For the past three years, she has served on the AHS Site Council and the board of Ashland High Arts Advocates (AHAA). She has coached students in Oregon Battle of the Books for many years and was a youth soccer team manager for eight seasons. She describes herself as “passionate about the education and well-being of all children…I embrace new ideas and innovative thinking and look forward to maintaining Ashland’s strong academic foundation while fostering discussion of how to improve our commitment to providing all students a pathway to success.” Dr. Dyson is currently a physician on the staff of Mount Shasta Radiology.

Russell Hatch, a local small business owner and certified professional coach in three disciplines, has been a consistent and active contributor to our school district. His involvement includes terms as PTA president, participation in workdays for campus improvements, and sharing his knowledge through self-defense courses at Ashland Middle School and serving on the district budget committee.

With three family generations residing in Ashland, Russell's connection to our community runs deep. As a father of three children currently attending local schools, he has a personal interest in the quality and success of our education system. His commitment to fostering a supportive environment for all students is evident in his ongoing efforts.
